DPR RI Commission VII addresses capital access for MSMEs

Indonesia's DPR RI Commission VII is addressing the significant challenges faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the creative economy sector regarding access to capital. During a working visit to Nuanu Creative City in Bali, Commission VII Vice Chair Rahayu Saraswati D. Djojohadikusumo highlighted the need for financing schemes that understand the specific characteristics of creative businesses.

Proposed solutions include utilizing intellectual property as collateral, expanding People's Business Credit (KUR), and exploring alternative instruments such as securities crowdfunding. Members of the commission, including Gandung Pardiman, are supporting the formation of a Working Committee (Panja) specifically focused on MSME and creative economy financing access.

The goal is to create easier, low-interest, and less bureaucratic financing mechanisms. This initiative aims to support a sector that accounts for approximately 98 percent of labor absorption, helping businesses expand their capacity, improve financial literacy, and access export markets.
