Indonesia Hajj 2027 costs set at Rp98.4 million per pilgrim

The Indonesian government and Commission VIII of the DPR have reached an agreement on the 2027 Hajj penyelenggaraan cost (BPIH), setting the average total cost at Rp98,466,351.35 per pilgrim. This figure includes a breakdown where the pilgrim's direct travel cost (Bipih) accounts for 55.5 percent (Rp54,648,825), while the remaining 44.5 percent (Rp43,817,526.35) is covered by the Hajj benefit value (Nilai Manfaat) managed by the BPKH.

To alleviate the financial burden on pilgrims, the government is providing a subsidy of approximately Rp3.2 million per person. When combined with the initial deposit of Rp25 million and the virtual account benefit of approximately Rp3.4 million, the remaining balance for pilgrims to settle is expected to be an average of approximately Rp23 million. This represents a reduction in the direct burden compared to the previous year.

The total Hajj quota for 2027 is set at 221,000 pilgrims. While the subsidy is intended to assist, officials from Komnas Haji and Umrah have raised concerns regarding the long-term sustainability of the Hajj finances, noting that the high reliance on benefit values could potentially impact the distribution of funds for future waiting pilgrims.
