Automakers expand global EV and hybrid vehicle lineups
The global automotive market continues to see diverse shifts in electric, hybrid, and internal combustion offerings. In Spain, DR Automobiles is expanding its presence with an eight-model lineup across three brands—DR, Sportequipe, and ICH-X—utilizing platforms from Chinese manufacturers like Chery and JAC. Meanwhile, Lexus has introduced a minor update to its RX SUV for 2027, featuring a new 14-inch multimedia touchscreen.
In the electric vehicle sector, Mazda is positioning the 6e sedan to compete with established models like the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal, focusing on design and perceived quality. Volvo's EX60 is noted as a strong contender for premium electric SUV travel due to its high range and fast-charging capabilities. Additionally, the used market for the Tesla Model Y is growing, offering increased accessibility as new generations approach.
In Thailand, the JAECOO 5 EV MAX+ has launched with a price reduction and a lifetime warranty on its battery and motor. In the C-SUV segment, the GWM Ora 5 is entering the Spanish market as an affordable option with turbo gasoline or hybrid variants. Finally, Chery’s sub-brand iCAR has introduced the V27, a rugged range-extended electric SUV in Hong Kong, offering a combined range of up to 1,200 kilometers.
