Dr. Dre defends AI as a creative tool for music production

Hip hop producer and entrepreneur Dr. Dre has expressed support for the use of artificial intelligence in music production, viewing it as a creative tool rather than a threat. In an interview with the New York Times, Dre stated that those who perceive AI as a threat are likely “those who struggle to create.”

He compared the current skepticism toward AI to the historical resistance faced by drum machines and synthesizers. Dre confirmed that he personally uses AI as an experimental tool to process his existing work and see new creative directions. His business partner, Jimmy Iovine, also expressed a positive outlook on the technology's development within the music industry.

Dr. Dre, the co-founder of Beats and founder of Aftermath Records, noted that many producers are already utilizing AI in their workflows, even if they are reluctant to admit it publicly.
