Mexico regional governments launch social welfare and health initiatives

Various Mexican state and municipal governments are implementing diverse social welfare and public service initiatives across the country.

In San Luis Potosí, Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona launched the ‘Regreso a Clases’ 2026 program, providing free school supplies, backpacks, and footwear to over 12,000 students in Tamazunchale. He also announced infrastructure improvements in Villa de Ramos and the construction of the Zacatipán Boulevard. In Tamaulipas, Secretary Silvia Casas González delivered food packages and water tanks to families in González as part of the state's social welfare policy.

Health services are being decentralized through mobile clinics and community programs. Hermosillo is deploying mobile units to provide medical, dental, and physiotherapy services to various neighborhoods. In Aguascalientes, the ISSEA is launching ‘Caravanas de la Salud’ to reach remote communities, while Zitácuaro is hosting a specialized vasectomy clinic. Additionally, Zenyazen Escobar is providing free oral health services in Cuitláhuac.

Other regional updates include the ‘Listo Jalisco’ program in Ahualulco de Mercado, which distributes school kits to thousands of students, and a tourism promotion initiative in Playa del Carmen aimed at strengthening ties with the Mexico City market. In Chihuahua, municipal authorities held a community event offering free veterinary services and plant distributions.
