Dragon Quest 40th Anniversary Celebrations Launch in Japan with Lawson Lottery and Harajuku Exhibition

Square Enix is marking the 40th anniversary of its Dragon Quest series with two major events in Japan. Starting 1 August 2026, a special lottery called “ドラゴンクエストふくびき所スペシャル~40年目の旅立ち~” will be sold at Lawson stores and other outlets for ¥790 per ticket. Prizes include themed stationery, a logo‑shaped light, a sound block featuring series music, acrylic panels, character figurines paired with slime figures, and a final 40th‑logo glass plate, plus a chance to win a limited “メタリックモンスターズ りゅうおう” figure.

From 17 July to 6 September 2026, the Tokyu Plaza Harajuku will host the “Dragon Quest the DIVE –まだ見ぬ冒険の舞台へ–” exhibition across three floors. Highlights feature a VR ride using Meta Quest 3 headsets and motion seats, immersive panels, rare archival materials, and interactive zones where visitors can pose with series monsters, try a “Homi‑ta” voice‑acted character, and transform into townsfolk via facial‑tracking mirrors. The event also includes a collaborative restaurant on the fifth floor and assorted photo‑op spots, offering fans a comprehensive celebration of the franchise’s four‑decade history.
