Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion to launch October 9
Capcom developers have shared details regarding the upcoming Dragon's Dogma 2 expansion, titled ‘Dark Arisen’, which is scheduled for release on October 9. The expansion will be available on PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Additionally, a bundle containing both the base game and the Dark Arisen DLC will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day.
In interviews conducted at Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show 2026, Director Kento Kinoshita and Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi discussed the development philosophy behind recent updates. They addressed the balance between player convenience and gameplay challenge, noting that recent updates introduced items to facilitate fast travel to satisfy player demand in Asia and Japan, while maintaining the option for a more difficult, high-friction experience preferred by some Western players.
The team also confirmed that support for the Nintendo Switch 2 was a goal from the project's inception. Developers attributed the ease of porting to the use of Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, which allows for shared technical knowledge across different development teams.
