Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen performance compared on Switch 2 and PS5

Capcom has released Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen for multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5. Recent technical comparisons highlight the performance differences between the hardware.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version targets 1440p resolution when docked and 1080p in handheld mode. While the PlayStation 5 version utilizes 4K resolution, the Switch 2 version employs frame generation technology to achieve a 60fps experience. Without frame generation enabled, the frame rate typically fluctuates between 37 and 47fps.

Graphical differences are most notable in shadow rendering, water transparency, and object detail. The PlayStation 5 version provides sharper shadows and more detailed environmental reflections, whereas the Switch 2 version features softer shadows and some omissions of small objects like pebbles or distant rocks to maintain performance. Despite these adjustments, the Switch 2 version maintains the overall atmosphere of the game.
