Angola strengthens regional ties with Botswana and DRC

Angola is actively strengthening its diplomatic and strategic ties with neighboring African nations. In Luanda, Botswana President Duma Boko met with the President of the National Assembly of Angola, Adão Francisco Correia de Almeida, to discuss deepening cooperation in political, economic, and cultural sectors. Key areas of focus include mining, diamonds, agriculture, health, and tourism, as well as regional security within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Simultaneously, President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo visited the Cunene province in Angola at the invitation of President João Lourenço. The visit focused on water resource management, highlighted by the inauguration of the Ndúe and Calucuve dams. This cooperation aims to share expertise in hydraulic infrastructure to combat drought and enhance climate resilience in both nations.

These developments occur amidst a period of structural and diplomatic transformation in Angola under the administration of João Lourenço, characterized by efforts to diversify the economy beyond oil and restore international credibility.
