DRC forces arrest deserters and bandits in Kalemie

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s armed forces (FARDC) announced that on Monday, 13 July, security troops detained several deserters, suspected infiltrators and urban bandits during a routine operation in Kalemie, the capital of Tanganyika province. The arrested individuals were transferred to the central prison in Kalemie pending judicial procedures.

Military officials said the action was part of ongoing efforts to reinforce security, prevent threats to public order and counter misinformation circulating on social media. They urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security services and avoid panic over unverified reports.
