DRC Governors Purusi and Kambulu Return to Provinces, Pledge Peace and Project Funding
On 4 August 2026 Governor Jean‑Jacques Purusi arrived in Uvira, the provisional capital of South Kivu, after an official mission in Kinshasa. He was welcomed by Vice‑Governor Jean‑Jacques Elakano, provincial assembly leaders and community representatives, and reiterated his commitment to restoring state authority and fostering peace in the province. The visit followed a national‑level forum chaired by Vice‑Prime Minister and Interior Minister Jacquemin Shabani that brought together the governors of North and South Kivu, national and provincial deputies, customary authorities and community leaders to discuss inter‑institutional cohesion.
The same day Governor Joseph Moïse Kambulu N’konko returned to Kasaï Central, also after a Kinshasa mission. He confirmed that all provincial projects would receive financing, highlighted ongoing anti‑erosion work in Kananga under the Urban Resilience Urgency project, and urged residents to support President Félix‑Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo’s development vision for the Democratic Republic of Congo.
