DRC launches Ebola vaccination campaign in Tshopo

Health Minister Roger Kamba has launched an Ebola vaccination campaign in Kisangani, Tshopo province, to combat an outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo strain. The campaign initially targets frontline workers, including doctors, nurses, and community health agents, to ensure the continuity of essential health services and protect those most at risk of infection.

According to government data, the current outbreak has resulted in approximately 5,794 confirmed cases and 2,789 deaths. The vaccination strategy, which includes the use of the Everbo vaccine, is being implemented alongside epidemiological surveillance, case management, and infection control. The campaign is expected to extend to the Bas-Uélé and Haut-Uélé provinces as part of the broader response to contain the virus.
