DreamWorks Animation brings Filipino mythology to life in ‘Forgotten Island’

DreamWorks Animation is releasing ‘Forgotten Island’, a new animated film inspired by Filipino culture and mythology. The story follows two friends, Jo and Raissa, as they navigate the mysterious island of Nakali, a world filled with creatures and folklore. The narrative explores themes of memory, change, and the importance of friendship.

To support the production of the film, DreamWorks has expanded its partnership with Lenovo. In 2025, Lenovo was named the preferred provider for compute services, workstations, and solutions, utilizing high-performance computing infrastructure and data center technology to manage the complex demands of modern animation.

In Ireland, the film’s release is being linked to Fáilte Ireland’s ‘Home of Halloween’ programme. This partnership celebrates the connection between the film’s mythological themes and Ireland’s own Celtic traditions and the festival of Samhain. Special preview screenings are scheduled across Irish cinema hubs ahead of the film’s official release.
