Drift Protocol suspected exploiter moves $61.6M in ETH to Tornado Cash
A wallet suspected of being linked to the Drift Protocol exploit has moved approximately $61.6 million worth of Ethereum (ETH) into Tornado Cash. This movement occurs roughly two months after the alleged incident, a timing pattern often observed in cryptocurrency exploits to allow initial scrutiny to diminish.
On-chain data indicates that at least 13,400 ETH has been routed through the privacy-focused protocol Tornado Cash from addresses associated with the suspected attacker. Total assets currently held in wallets tracked by analysts like Onchain Lens are estimated at approximately $224.59 million.
Tornado Cash functions as a mixer on the Ethereum blockchain, pooling deposits to obscure the connection between the source and destination addresses, which makes tracing the ultimate destination of funds difficult for researchers.
