Drishyam 3 faces legal dispute amid massive advance bookings
The highly anticipated crime thriller ‘Drishyam 3: The Conclusion’, starring Ajay Devgn, is set for release on October 2. The film has seen massive pre-release momentum, with advance bookings reporting collections of approximately 14.22 crore rupees and over 3.77 lakh tickets sold as of Wednesday evening. Trade analysts suggest the film could achieve a net opening day collection between 40 and 50 crore rupees.
Despite the commercial excitement, the film faces legal challenges. A petition has been filed in the Madras High Court by M/s Rajkumar Theatre Private Limited, seeking a worldwide stay on the film's release. The petitioner claims that the production violates their adaptation and copyright rights for the ‘Drishyam’ franchise. The court has currently postponed the hearing on the matter.
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, this installment is described as an original story rather than a remake. The cast includes returning actors Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta, alongside new additions such as Jaideep Ahhlawat and Prakash Raj. Early reviews from critics have praised the performances and the film's ability to advance the franchise's narrative.
