Drishyam film franchise release and reception
Overview
The Hindi mystery thriller franchise is concluding with its third installment, ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film features the return of Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, alongside Tabu, Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Prakash Raj. Unlike previous entries, this installment is an original story rather than an adaptation.
Production faced disruptions when actor Akshaye Khanna exited the project shortly before filming, necessitating script rewrites and the introduction of Jaideep Ahlawat’s character. This departure led to a legal notice issued by producer Kumar Mangat Pathak alleging a breach of agreement. Despite this, the film saw massive pre-release momentum, with advance ticket sales exceeding 2.2 million tickets and gross pre-sales reaching approximately ₹17 crore.
Following its October 2, 2026, release, the film achieved record-breaking success, earning approximately ₹66.75 crore net in India on its opening day. By its 16th day, the worldwide gross surpassed ₹528 crore. As of its 20th day, the film’s worldwide gross reached ₹560.02 crore, with domestic net collections at approximately ₹359.75 crore and international earnings at ₹129 crore. While experiencing a decline in earnings during its third week, it remains the highest-grossing film of Ajay Devgn's career.
