Drive Safe Achaia campaign holds first road‑safety event in Patras, Greece

The inaugural action of the DRIVE SAFE ACHAIA road‑safety campaign took place Friday evening in Patras, Greece, at the junction of Norman and Heroes of Polytechnic streets. The event was organised by the Union of Professionals Insurers of Southwestern Greece in cooperation with the Patras Traffic Police, supported by the insurance‑intermediary firm Extra Assistance and under the patronage of the Patras Chamber of Commerce.

The campaign aims to foster a culture of road safety by informing drivers and pedestrians about basic safe‑travel rules, including the use of seat belts and helmets, adherence to speed limits, avoidance of alcohol‑impacted driving, refraining from mobile‑phone use while driving, and proper use of child seats. General Secretary Evaggelos Spathis said the first action “was completed with great success,” while Extra Assistance president Aristidis Bousoulopoulos praised the initiative for helping reduce traffic accidents. The Chamber’s business‑support officer Giannis Christopoulos highlighted prevention as the most important tool for lowering road fatalities. Citizens responded positively, and organisers intend the DRIVE SAFE ACHAIA actions to continue as an ongoing road‑safety effort.
