Adnan Çebi defends bribery and camera tampering allegations in IBB trial
During the ongoing trial regarding the 'Ekrem İmamoğlu Criminal Organization' allegations, several key testimonies and defenses have emerged. Adnan Çebi, Chairman of Makyol A.Ş. and owner of the Le Meridien Hotel, testified that a 4.7 million lira payment made for a nursery was a symbolic donation for education rather than criminal financing. Çebi also denied that his company received business from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) during İmamoğlu’s term and claimed that the taping of security cameras at the hotel was a routine practice carried out by IBB protection staff using materials brought from outside.
Other testimonies have provided further details into the alleged corruption network. Bayram Yıldırım, a former driver for defendant Ertan Yıldız, testified that he identified Fatih Keleş, Murat Ongun, and Kadriye Kasapoğlu as recipients of bribe money. Additionally, Tonguç Çoban, an IBB advisor, was arrested following allegations involving market cards, though he maintains he is an 'attached defendant' with no administrative ties to the Şile Municipality mentioned in the investigation.
The trial involves 414 defendants, with 53 currently in custody. Witnesses and defendants have presented various documents, including bank receipts and HTS records, to support or refute claims of illegal financing and bribery within the IBB and its affiliates.
