Ukrainian explosive drone crashes in Lithuania

Ukraine Lithuania FPV-1 drone electronic warfare Pasvalys district

An explosive-laden Ukrainian FPV-1 drone crashed in Lithuania's Pasvalys district on October 18. The incident occurred near the Latvian border and caused damage to a passing vehicle, though no injuries were reported.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius stated that the drone entered the country from the Schengen area via the Polish border. However, Polish sources, citing unofficial information from their defense ministry, suggest the drone may have actually been launched from within Lithuanian territory, approximately 30 kilometers from the Polish border.

Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas indicated the drone was likely part of a larger Ukrainian attack targeting Saint Petersburg. He noted that Russian electronic warfare systems may have diverted the drone from its intended route, causing it to crash in Lithuania. The Ukrainian government has since issued an apology for the incident.
