Moldova airspace violated by drones following explosion in Anenii Noi

A drone exploded in the outskirts of Hîrbovăț village, Anenii Noi district, after violating Moldovan airspace on September 30. The incident occurred around 05:43, with the drone reportedly passing over the Tighina area before crashing at a height of approximately 40 meters. The explosion damaged a section of a civilian communication antenna, though services remained functional. No casualties were reported.

Following the initial crash, a second drone was detected at 10:26 near Lunga, Dubăsari district, prompting authorities to close the airspace over northern and central Moldova. Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi announced that the military is working to acquire systems capable of intercepting drones and missiles to protect national sovereignty.

Parliamentary Speaker Igor Grosu and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the incidents as serious violations of Moldova's sovereignty and security, linking the risks to the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine. Police are currently investigating the origin and model of the aircraft, having recovered fragments within a 265-meter radius of the explosion site.
