Drone explosion at Romania’s Constanța port triggers emergency response

A drone exploded in the Port of Constanța, prompting emergency measures. Union leader Adrian Mihălcioiu of the Free Navigators’ Union said the drone “arrived there by mistake” and used the incident to highlight the absence of a maritime surveillance system for Romania’s coast, noting that “we still do not have a coast‑guard surveillance system after four years of war”.

Following the blast, the Constanța County Emergency Hospital (SCJU) activated its “Plan Alb” emergency protocol, mobilising staff from the hospital and the surrounding area, and suspending outpatient visits while resources were allocated to manage the situation.
