Drone strike on Russian Black Sea beach kills seven, including children

On Monday, a drone attack hit the crowded beach at Arkhipo‑Osipovka, a village near the resort town of Gelendzhik on Russia’s Black Sea coast. Seven people were killed, among them several children, and about 40 were injured.

Russian officials, including regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev, said the strike was carried out by a Ukrainian‑launched drone targeting civilian infrastructure. Ukrainian Defense Forces officer Andriy Kovalenko disputed this, claiming Russian air‑defence fire downed a drone and that falling debris caused the casualties.

Analysts warned that President Vladimir Putin could use the incident to bolster domestic support for the war, portraying it as evidence of Ukrainian aggression against civilians.
