Drought crises prompt emergency responses in Blitar and Banjarnegara

Severe drought conditions have prompted emergency responses in several Indonesian regions. In Blitar Regency, the local government has officially declared a three-month drought emergency status, effective from July 20 to October 20, 2026. This legal measure aims to accelerate the mobilization of aid and provide clean water to affected residents, particularly in seven identified high-risk sub-districts including Wates, Kademangan, and Panggungrejo.

Simultaneously, in Banjarnegara, Central Java, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has distributed over 3.19 million liters of clean water to combat rising water scarcity. This relief effort has reached 5,466 families, totaling approximately 18,172 individuals across 21 villages and six urban areas. The distribution is being conducted gradually using regional budget funds to ensure areas with the most limited water sources receive necessary supplies.
