Drought impacts cereal production in Romania and rice yields in India

Drought conditions are impacting major agricultural regions in both Romania and India. In Romania, Interim Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tanczos Barna reported that drought has drastically affected cereal production in the counties of Timis, Bihor, and Satu Mare. While other Romanian counties experienced better climatic conditions, the country faces significant logistical challenges regarding grain transit and exports.

In India, the world's largest rice producer and exporter, rice production could see its largest decline in a decade. Industry representatives estimate a potential decrease of approximately 10 million tons due to below-normal monsoon rainfall. While significant stocks from previous record harvests may allow for continued exports, the reduced yields could pressure domestic prices and global markets.
