On July 22, 2026, a woman who lost consciousness while swimming at a beach in Sithonia, Chalkidiki, was rescued by emergency crews from EKAB. She was treated on site with oxygen, fluids and re‑warming, then transported to the nearest health centre and onward to a hospital for further care.
Two days earlier, on July 20, 2026, a 76‑year‑old woman drowned at Akraata beach. EKAB rescuers used a laryngeal mask and a portable defibrillator in an attempt to revive her, but she was pronounced dead after arrival at the Akraata health centre. Her body was transferred to the University Hospital of Patras for autopsy.
Both incidents were handled by the Central Emergency Rescue Service (EKAB) and involved immediate medical intervention on the Greek coast.
