Düsseldorf police arrest man for stealing suitcase from ICE train

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Düsseldorf following the theft of a suitcase from an ICE train. The incident occurred shortly after the departure of ICE 201 from the Düsseldorf main station.

The victim, a 54-year-old, noticed the theft during the journey and was able to track part of his property, providing his location to the Federal Police. By analyzing video footage, officers identified the suspect and the stolen luggage.

Following the identification, the Federal Police coordinated with the Düsseldorf State Police, who apprehended the suspect near his residence in Düsseldorf-Friedrichstadt. During the arrest, authorities discovered additional items suspected to be stolen. The estimated value of the stolen goods is approximately 4,300 euros. The suspect was released after police measures were completed due to a lack of grounds for detention, though criminal proceedings for a particularly serious case of theft have been initiated.
