DStv to overhaul subscription packages in Kenya and South Africa
DStv is preparing a major overhaul of its subscription package structure, with changes expected to roll out in September 2026. The restructuring aims to offer more affordable categories based on consumer demand.
In Kenya, the new lineup may replace the current six-package system with three monthly packages. Under this proposed structure, the Premium package would see a significant price reduction from KES 11,700 to KES 7,300. The new Compact package is expected to cost KES 3,000, while a new Select tier would be priced at KES 1,500.
In South Africa, reports indicate a new lineup including a Starter package for R99, a Select package for R299, and a new Sports package priced at R399. Other anticipated tiers include a Movies & Series package for R500 and a full Premium package for R799. These changes follow the acquisition of MultiChoice, the parent company of DStv, by the French media group Canal+.
