Dubai Airport manages surge in passenger arrivals

Dubai Airport is managing a significant surge in passenger traffic as residents and citizens return from summer holidays. On Monday, August 17, the airport processed 88,000 arrivals, with daily numbers expected to reach approximately 90,000 in the coming days.

To accommodate this peak movement, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai has implemented several operational measures. These include the redistribution of personnel, increased technical support, and the full activation of Smart Gates, which utilize facial recognition and biometric technology to facilitate contactless travel.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, stated that preparations also include specialized assistance for families, senior citizens, and patients. The airport has also implemented a ‘red carpet’ reception system, particularly for passengers arriving via Emirates Airline at Terminal 3, to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience.
