Dubai cycling events and traffic disruptions
Dubai is hosting several major cycling events that impact both community fitness and local traffic. The 10th edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge will feature ‘Dubai Ride’ on 1 November 2026. This event, presented by DP World, offers two routes: a 4km family-friendly loop through Downtown Dubai and a 12km route along Sheikh Zayed Road. The event aims to bring together thousands of cyclists of all abilities, including riders of determination.
Additionally, the Dubai Police ‘Proud of the UAE’ Cycling Race, an 80km event organized in cooperation with the UAE Cycling Federation and the Roads and Transport Authority, has caused morning traffic disruptions on routes including Al Ain–Dubai Road and Ras Al Khor Road.
Commuters in the region have also faced significant delays due to various incidents and accidents on major corridors such as the E311, E611, and Sheikh Zayed Road, leading Dubai Police to issue safety reminders for motorists to maintain safe following distances.
