Dubai approves 80km New Fourth Corridor road project

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed has approved the New Fourth Corridor project, a major 80km road infrastructure development designed to strengthen connectivity between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The project will be implemented in two phases to support logistics, urban growth, and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

The first phase, costing approximately AED 3.5 billion (US $953 million), spans 30km from Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah to the Dubai–Al Ain Road. This phase includes 12 lanes in both directions with a capacity of 24,000 vehicles per hour, aiming to reduce travel times by 60%, from 35 minutes to 14 minutes.

The second phase will cover 50km, extending from the Dubai–Al Ain Road to Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi. This segment is expected to reduce journey times by 52%, from 50 minutes to 24 minutes. The entire corridor will feature 72 bridges, 17 tunnels, and 45 stormwater drainage culverts. The route will pass key landmarks including Al Maktoum International Airport, the Etihad Rail route, and several desert conservation reserves.
