Dubai International Airport to relocate operations to Al Maktoum
Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world's busiest airport by international passenger volume, is set to close for commercial passenger traffic in the long term. The facility, which has been in operation since 1960, handles over 90 million passengers annually and serves as the primary hub for Emirates.
Flight operations will be gradually relocated to Al Maktoum International Airport located in the southern part of Dubai. The decision to shift operations is driven by the rapid urban growth surrounding DXB, which has limited the potential for further physical expansion of the current site.
