Dubai Police adds Yangwang U8 electric SUV to luxury fleet
Dubai Police has expanded its specialized tourist patrol fleet with the addition of the Yangwang U8, a high-performance electric SUV from the Chinese premium brand Yangwang, a subsidiary of BYD. The vehicle was officially presented at the WETEX 2026 exhibition held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The Yangwang U8 features 1,197 horsepower, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Beyond its speed, the SUV possesses unique technical capabilities, including the ability to perform 360-degree tank turns and an emergency floating mode that allows it to move on water.
This vehicle is intended for use in high-traffic tourist areas rather than for high-speed pursuits. According to Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the addition aims to increase the visibility of law enforcement and serve as a point of contact for residents and tourists to seek information or assistance.
