Dubai Police arrest six in online shopping fraud investigation

Dubai Police have arrested six individuals as part of an investigation into a fraudulent online shopping operation. Labeled the “Unexpected Deduction” gang by investigators, the group allegedly used a fake website to harvest bank card details from unsuspecting customers.

The suspects reportedly used the stolen information to make unauthorized purchases and transfer funds into digital wallets and bank accounts specifically established to collect the proceeds. Investigators noted that some stolen card data was sold to other criminals for further unauthorized withdrawals and transfers.

In a separate warning, the Dubai Police Anti-Fraud Centre cautioned jobseekers against fraudulent part-time job offers. These scams often target individuals seeking extra income by requesting banking details or involving them in illegal financial transfers. Authorities advise verifying company identities through official channels and never sharing one-time passwords (OTPs) or paying fees to secure employment.
