Dubai Police fraud investigations

Overview

Dubai Police have conducted several operations targeting different fraudulent schemes. In one instance, authorities dismantled an eight-member criminal gang that facilitated the illegal acquisition of UAE driving licences. The group allegedly charged 10,000 AED per licence to bypass mandatory training and testing by fraudulently securing foreign licences from a neighboring country to exploit exchange agreements.

In a separate investigation, police arrested six individuals involved in an online shopping scam known as the ‘Unexpected Deduction’ gang. This group used a fake website to harvest bank card details, which were then used for unauthorized purchases and the transfer of funds into digital wallets and bank accounts. Some stolen data was reportedly sold to other criminals for further unauthorized withdrawals.
