Dubai RTA awards AED 1.16 billion for Al Meydan Street project

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded two contracts valued at AED 1.161 billion for the Al Meydan Street Development Project. This strategic infrastructure initiative is designed to enhance Dubai’s main road network by creating a transport corridor that supports Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.

The project involves constructing 17 kilometres of roads and 3,700 metres of bridges to develop key intersections. Once completed, which is scheduled for the end of 2028, the development is expected to increase north-south traffic capacity by 18 per cent and serve over 500,000 residents.

According to the RTA, the improvements will significantly reduce travel times. Specifically, the duration between Al Manama Street and the Dubai-Al Ain Road to Umm Suqeim Street is projected to drop from 30 minutes to 10 minutes, a 66 per cent reduction.
