Dubai Al Meydan Street infrastructure development
Overview
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded two contracts worth AED 1.161 billion for the Al Meydan Street Development Project. This initiative aims to enhance the city’s main road network by constructing 17 kilometres of roads and 3,700 metres of bridges to support Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.
Scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, the project is expected to increase north-south traffic capacity by 18 per cent and serve more than 500,000 residents. The RTA projects that the improvements will significantly reduce travel times, specifically cutting the duration between Al Manama Street and Umm Suqeim Street from 30 minutes to 10 minutes.
