Dubai RTA opens major three‑lane bridge, cutting travel time to five minutes
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) inaugurated a three‑lane bridge on the Oud Metha‑Al Asayel Streets Development Project, bringing the overall scheme to 90 % completion. The new bridge can handle 3,600 vehicles per hour and links Al Khail Road to Al Asayel Street via Al Wasl Club Street.
The development is designed to reduce travel times along the Sheikh Rashid Corridor from about 20 minutes to roughly five minutes – a 75 % improvement – and increase the capacity of Oud Metha Street by 50 % to 15,600 vehicles per hour. Two additional tunnels are scheduled to open by the end of August, and a separate bridge for left‑turn movements will follow in the next phase. The project serves residential and service areas such as Zabeel, Al Jaddaf, Oud Metha, Umm Hhair, Latifa Hospital and Al Wasl Club, with the population of these zones expected to exceed 420,000 by 2030.
