Dublin rickshaw crash kills mother after Westlife concert
Danielle O’Keane, a 37-year-old mother of two from Newry, has died following a catastrophic brain injury sustained in a rickshaw accident in Dublin. The incident occurred on September 26, after O’Keane had attended a Westlife concert at the 3Arena.
At approximately 11:00 PM, the pedal-powered rickshaw O’Keane was traveling in struck a curb and overturned near North Wall Quay. She was reportedly struck by an oncoming car and subsequently transported to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where she was placed on a ventilator. Despite medical intervention, doctors determined her injuries were “life-ending,” and she passed away on October 1.
An Garda Síochána has launched an appeal for witnesses and is seeking dashcam footage from road users in the area between 10:30 PM and 11:15 PM on the night of the crash. A GoFundMe campaign for the family has raised nearly £130,000 to support her husband and two young sons.
