Fatal Dublin rickshaw accident
Overview
On September 26, 2026, Danielle O’Keane, a 37-year-old mother from Co Armagh, sustained catastrophic brain injuries following a rickshaw accident in Dublin. The incident occurred near North Wall Quay after O’Keane attended a Westlife concert at the 3Arena.
Reports indicate the vehicle struck a divider or curb and overturned, causing O’Keane to fall into the path of oncoming traffic, where she was struck by a car. After being treated at Mater University Hospital, she passed away on October 1.
An Garda Síochána has launched an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage from the period between 10:30 PM and 11:15 PM on the night of the crash. In the wake of the tragedy, O’Keane’s family has called for stricter regulations regarding rickshaws and e-scooters, while a GoFundMe campaign has been established to support her husband and two sons.
