Dubrovnik reduces traffic in special zone by nearly 200,000 vehicles
The City of Dubrovnik has reported a significant reduction in traffic volume within its special traffic regime zone. Between April 1 and September 30, 1,853,123 vehicles entered the zone, marking a decrease of 191,394 entries compared to the same period in the previous year, when 2,044,517 vehicles were recorded.
This reduction is part of a broader smart and sustainable city strategy aimed at improving traffic flow, enhancing the quality of life for residents, and preserving the historical core and its contact zone. To further alleviate congestion, the city is currently constructing a ‘Park & Ride’ facility on the coast. This project, co-financed by European funds through the ITU mechanism, will allow motorists to park outside the dense urban area and continue their journeys via public transport.
