Dubrovnik urban management and traffic reduction
Overview
Dubrovnik has reported a significant reduction in vehicle traffic within its special traffic regime zone. Data from April 1 to September 30, 2026, shows 1,853,123 vehicle entries, which is a decrease of 191,394 entries compared to the same period in the previous year.
This reduction is part of a smart and sustainable city strategy intended to improve traffic flow, enhance resident quality of life, and preserve the historical core. To support these efforts, the city is constructing a ‘Park & Ride’ facility on the coast, co-financed by European funds, to allow motorists to park outside the dense urban area and use public transport.
In addition to traffic management, the city is implementing other urban developments, including a participatory budgeting cycle where citizens selected 25 local projects for 2027, and new social policy contracts aimed at providing housing for young people.
