Dulwich Hill police operation following reports of gunfire
A major police operation is underway in the Sydney suburb of Dulwich Hill following reports of gunfire on Friday morning. NSW Police have established a large exclusion area near Williams Parade and Constitution Road as they search for a man allegedly armed with a sawn-off shotgun.
As a precaution, nearby schools, including Dulwich Hill Public School, and local businesses have been placed into lockdown. Residents in the area were urged to remain indoors while heavily armed tactical officers and police helicopters conducted searches. Light rail services between Dulwich Hill and Lilyfield were suspended during the incident.
Witnesses reported an altercation that resulted in a vehicle being set on fire in an underground carpark; NSW Fire and Rescue attended the scene and extinguished the blaze. No injuries have been reported, and no arrests had been made at the time of the reports.
