Composer Duncan Sheik has passed away at the age of 56. Sheik, known for his folk-rock score for the Tony-winning musical ‘Spring Awakening’, died just months before the production’s 20th anniversary.

In light of his passing, an Off-Broadway revival of ‘Spring Awakening’ is set to debut at Studios Seaview in New York. Directed by Danya Taymor, the production will run from November 27, 2026, through February 14, 2027. The revival features a new cast including Tyler Jordan Wesley as Melchior, Ashlyn Maddox as Wendla, and Ryo Kamibayashi as Moritz.
