Dune: Awakening survival MMO set for September 2026 release

Funcom’s upcoming open-world survival MMO, Dune: Awakening, is scheduled for release on September 22, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Players who purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions will gain early access starting September 17.

John Hudson, a British military survival instructor and consultant, has praised the game for its realistic depiction of extreme desert environments. Evaluating the game's mechanics against real-world survival principles, Hudson noted that the weather-sculpted rock formations and landscapes appear authentic, as if sandblasted by desert storms.

The game focuses on survival challenges on the planet Arrakis, including water scarcity, heat exposure, and sandstorms. Players must manage resources, find shelter, and utilize group coordination to endure the harsh environment and the threat of sandworms.
