Funcom Dune: Awakening console launch and DLC

Funcom has provided extensive updates for the open-world survival game Dune: Awakening during Gamescom 2026. Following the PC version's launch in June 2025, the studio confirmed the game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox on September 22, 2026. Players who purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions will receive early access starting September 17.

New gameplay footage showcased on PlayStation 5 Pro demonstrated 4K resolution and performance modes targeting 60fps. Technical details for console graphical modes specify that Xbox Series S will offer 60 FPS with dynamic resolution between 720p and 1080p. The console release will include a single-player mode that concludes the game’s story, allowing players to leave Arrakis. This mode will feature a major balance pass, scalable difficulty, and additional customization. The ‘Filmic Archive’ DLC, priced at $9.99, will also release on September 22, featuring outfits inspired by Denis Villeneuve’s films and 73 base-building elements.

Survival mechanics have drawn attention from experts; British military survival instructor John Hudson praised the game’s realistic depiction of extreme desert environments, noting that landscapes appear authentic, as if “sandblasted by desert storms.” Players must manage water scarcity, heat, and sandstorms to survive the threats of Arrakis.
