Dung Quat Economic Zone attracts $19.4 billion in investment
The Dung Quat Economic Zone and industrial parks in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam, have attracted approximately $19.4 billion in total registered capital across 441 projects. Of this amount, $14 billion has been disbursed, including over $2.5 billion from 63 foreign direct investment projects.
The Dung Quat refinery serves as the region's centerpiece and is currently undergoing a $4.54 billion expansion. Additionally, the steelmaker Hoa Phat Group has invested $7.47 billion in two steel complexes within the area, providing a combined annual capacity of over 11 million metric tons.
Currently, about 350 projects are operational, employing more than 81,000 workers. These industrial zones contribute over 70 percent of the province's economic growth, exports, and budget revenue. Experts have emphasized the need to align the zone's development with green economy planning, focusing on circular economy models, clean energy, and green logistics to ensure sustainable growth.
