Vietnam reports major diesel theft ring and multiple fatal traffic accidents
Vietnam has seen several significant incidents involving crime and traffic accidents. In Nghe An, police dismantled a major diesel theft ring operating at Vinh Railway Station. Led by train driver Nguyen Dinh Kien, the group used underground pipes and specialized trucks to steal hundreds of thousands of liters of diesel from locomotives, causing losses exceeding 4.5 billion VND.
Multiple serious traffic accidents were reported. On the North-South Expressway in Nghe An, a collision between a passenger bus and a container truck left over 20 people injured, with some victims requiring intensive care. In Ba Ria, a collision between a 16-seater vehicle and a technology taxi resulted in 9 injuries, including three children. Additionally, a crash on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway involving a passenger bus and a stationary truck led to the death of a Russian tourist and injuries to another.
Other notable events include the arrest of a foreign national in Da Nang for stealing luxury goods worth over 500 million VND, and a fatal accident in Ha Tinh where a motorcyclist struck a railway crossing gate.
