Crime and traffic accidents in Vietnam

Authorities in Vietnam have reported significant criminal activity and serious traffic incidents. In Nghe An, police dismantled a major diesel theft ring operating at Vinh Railway Station. Led by train driver Nguyen Dinh Kien, the group utilized underground pipes and specialized trucks to steal hundreds of thousands of liters of diesel from locomotives, resulting in losses exceeding 4.5 billion VND. Criminal investigations have led to several arrests. In Da Nang, a Russian national, Enola Iugai, was identified for stealing luxury goods, including a Rolex watch and a Louis Vuitton bag, valued at over 500 million VND from a Saudi Arabian tourist. In Gia Lai, Bùi Huy Tú was arrested after smashing a car window to steal an LV handbag containing nearly 700 million VND and important documents; Tú reportedly used some funds for online gambling. In Thanh Hóa, delivery driver Mai Văn Chỉ was detained for breaking into a residence and stealing 31 gold rings and cash valued at over 200 million VND. In Ho Chi Minh City, Đinh Viết Hoàng was arrested for snatching an iPhone 14 Pro Max from two women on a motorbike. Other incidents include a group of teenagers in Huế under investigation for reckless driving with weapons, and a drug gathering spot dismantled in Vĩnh Long, where police seized Ketamine and weapons. In Nghệ An, police raided a guesthouse in Hợp Minh, detaining two couples for prostitution and seizing 60 synthetic drug pills. Additionally, a female student was fined 13.5 million VND for spreading false information on social media regarding bribery in driving exams. Concurrently, several fatal and injurious traffic accidents occurred. A collision between a passenger bus and a container truck on the North-South Expressway in Nghe An left over 20 people injured.
