Durban SADC Summit security breach leads to three arrests

Three individuals have been arrested following security breaches at the 46th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit held at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC).

According to police, two Congolese nationals were apprehended for allegedly attempting to access the summit venue using stolen or fraudulent accreditation cards. A third suspect, a Zimbabwean national, was arrested after allegedly attempting to gain entry by posing as a performing artist and claiming his immigration documents had been stolen.

Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe and KwaZulu-Natal spokesperson Robert Netshiunda emphasized that specialized units are managing security to ensure law and order during the event. Authorities have issued a stern warning to the public, stating that strict control measures are in place and that anyone attempting to enter the restricted zone without valid authorization will face decisive action.
