Duri Station escalators undergo repairs following fatal incident
Repairs are ongoing for the escalator facilities at Duri Station in West Jakarta following a fatal incident involving several commuters last weekend. KAI Commuter management stated that the primary focus is ensuring all technical components are functioning normally before the facilities are reopened to the public.
VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, emphasized that safety procedures will not be compromised. Before the escalators can be used again, they must undergo a series of inspections and feasibility tests by relevant authorities to prevent future technical failures.
To manage passenger flow during the repair period, the station has provided alternative access. Passengers may use manual stairs, while priority users have been directed to available lift facilities.
